DAZN Appoints Oscar Vilda as New CEO for Spain and Portugal
DAZN, the sports streaming platform, has announced that Bosco Aranguren, CEO of DAZN Spain, will be leaving the company to pursue a new opportunity. His successor, Oscar Vilda, former CEO of Finetwork, is set to take over the role starting February 1st.
Since joining DAZN in 2022, Aranguren has played a pivotal role in the company’s transformation and expansion in Spain. Under his leadership, both revenue and subscriber numbers have doubled. He successfully secured key distribution agreements with major telecommunications providers, including Telefónica, Orange, Vodafone, Grupo MASMOVIL, and Avatel. Additionally, he forged strategic partnerships with top entertainment platforms such as Prime Video and MAX. His tenure also saw DAZN Spain receive the “Great Place to Work” certification, recognizing the strong work culture fostered under his management.
Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, acknowledged Aranguren’s contributions, noting his dedication, strategic insight, and commitment over the past three years. He credited Aranguren as a crucial figure in the consolidation and growth of DAZN in Spain and expressed well wishes for his future endeavors. Segev also welcomed Vilda to the company, highlighting his extensive experience of over 30 years in the FMCG and telecommunications sectors across Europe and the Middle East. Segev emphasized that Vilda’s expertise in branding, customer experience, and channel development would be instrumental in driving the company’s continued growth.
Effective February 1st, Vilda will take on the responsibility of leading DAZN’s operations in both Spain and Portugal, leveraging his industry experience to further develop and expand the business.
Prior to joining DAZN, Vilda served nearly two years as CEO of Finetwork, where he played a key role in its growth, positioning it as the fifth-largest operator in the market. His previous experience includes serving as CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, being a board member of the Qatari technology firm Starlink, and holding senior leadership positions at Orange and Vodafone. He also held various commercial and marketing roles at FMCG companies such as Allied Domecq, PepsiCo, and Schweppes.
Reflecting on his appointment, Vilda expressed his excitement about joining DAZN. He described the opportunity to contribute to the company’s vision of becoming the global home of sport and a hub for fans worldwide as one of the most thrilling challenges of his career. He also emphasized his commitment to delivering tailored solutions to customers transparently while leveraging the latest technology to enhance the user experience.
