KK Group’s Rapid Expansion in Southeast Asia
KK Group, a China-based trend retailer catering to younger consumers, achieved remarkable growth in 2024 by expanding its footprint across Southeast Asia. Through its lifestyle brand KKV and makeup brand The Colorist, the group successfully entered four Southeast Asian countries, bringing its total number of stores to over 1,000 across more than 200 cities in China.
In 2024, KK Group pursued an ambitious international growth strategy, with KKV spearheading the expansion. Known for its “good to shop, good to play, and good-looking” brand concept, KKV entered one new Southeast Asian country each month. The brand launched operations in Malaysia early in the year, followed by Thailand in October, Vietnam in November, and the Philippines in December. Additionally, The Colorist opened its first overseas store in Malaysia in December, marking another milestone for the group.
This rapid expansion demonstrates KK Group’s ability to penetrate new markets effectively. However, maintaining sustainable, long-term growth in these markets will present challenges that require strategic planning and adaptation.
To commemorate its accomplishments and deepen its relationship with consumers, KKV hosted a major Christmas event titled KKV Light Your Christmas Stars. The event attracted tens of thousands of attendees and garnered 100 million online views. The event’s theme emphasized the uniqueness of individual lifestyles, symbolized by stars that represent joy and creativity. Consumers expressed admiration for the event, highlighting its unforgettable impact.
As of December 2024, KK Group’s presence in Southeast Asia included nearly 30 stores under its KKV and The Colorist brands.
Looking ahead to 2025, KK Group plans to debut its pop culture brand X11 in Southeast Asia while also entering the Singapore market during the year’s first half. With its three flagship brands—KKV, The Colorist, and X11—continuing to expand, the company aims to adapt product offerings to suit local preferences, ensure stable store operations, and secure the profitability of individual stores. This will require ongoing research and strategic efforts by its international team.
Beyond Southeast Asia, KK Group is conducting extensive studies to identify new opportunities and foster innovation in regional development, signaling its intent to pursue broader global ambitions.
