Vince McMahon Falls Off America’s List of Richest Amid Scandal and Resignation
Former WWE chairman, CEO, and creative head Vince McMahon is no longer counted among America’s 400 wealthiest individuals. Last year, the 79-year-old held the position of executive chairman at TKO, the parent company of WWE and UFC, owned by Endeavor Group Holdings. However, McMahon stepped down from his role in January after a lawsuit was filed against him, WWE, and former talent relations executive John Laurinaitis by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
Previously, an investigation by WWE’s board of directors revealed that McMahon had paid millions of dollars to several women, requiring them to sign non-disclosure agreements to remain silent about several cases involving him.
Recently, a Netflix docuseries titled Mr. McMahon premiered, revisiting McMahon’s contributions to WWE’s rise to prominence and exploring the controversies surrounding him. According to Deadline’s Katie Campione, the series ranked as the fourth-most-watched show on Netflix last week, amassing 4.9 million views.
In April, McMahon sold his remaining WWE shares, totaling $776 million, but his net worth has still declined compared to last year. Reports from Brendan Coffey of Sportico indicate that McMahon’s fortune, valued at $2.7 billion in 2023, has since fallen to $2.5 billion.
Despite McMahon’s pivotal role in transforming WWE into a global entertainment powerhouse after acquiring it from his father in 1982, the company has continued to thrive without him. Under the leadership of President Nick Khan and Chief Creative Officer Triple H, WWE remains a dominant force in the world of sports entertainment.
