Ellison Becomes World’s 2nd Richest Man Overtaking Bezos as Oracle Stock Surges by 20% this Month
Oracle’s recent stock rally propelled its Chairman, Larry Ellison, to briefly claim the title of the world’s second-richest person, surpassing Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. The surge in Oracle shares, which jumped 5.1% on Monday, increased Ellison’s fortune by $8.1 billion since Friday, bringing his net worth to approximately $206 billion. In comparison, Bezos’s wealth stands at $203 billion, while Elon Musk leads the global wealth rankings with $251 billion.
The impressive performance of Oracle’s stock, which has risen 20% this month, came after the company exceeded earnings expectations and raised its revenue forecast for fiscal 2026. This marked one of the strongest months for the company since October 2022, when shares soared by 28%. Much of this growth is attributed to Oracle’s involvement in the artificial intelligence sector.
Ellison has highlighted Oracle’s expansion in cloud infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI technologies. During the company’s recent earnings call, Ellison explained that Oracle is developing a range of data centers, from smaller, more portable ones to larger 200-megawatt facilities designed for training extensive AI models.
Additionally, Oracle revealed plans to collaborate with Amazon Web Services to integrate its database services with dedicated hardware, adding to similar partnerships already established with Microsoft and Google, the other major players in cloud computing.
