Prudential Brings Angel Ng from City to Serve as New Regional CEO for Greater China and Wealth Businesses
Prudential has appointed Angel Ng as the new Regional CEO for its Greater China and wealth businesses, succeeding Lilian Ng. Lilian, currently Managing Director of Prudential’s Strategic Business Group, will retire at the end of the year after a distinguished 30-year career with the company.
Lilian Ng has been a significant figure at Prudential, taking on the role of Chief Executive of Insurance for Asia in 2015, where she oversaw life insurance operations across the region. In July 2022, she joined the Group Executive Committee, leading Prudential’s operations in Greater China and spearheading the group’s customer and distribution strategies.
Angel Ng brings 25 years of financial services experience to her new position. Her recent role at Citi saw her leading all business lines within the Asia North & Australia Cluster, which includes China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Prior to this, she managed Citi Global Wealth’s Asia operations and served as CEO for Citi Hong Kong and Macau.
Prudential’s CEO, Anil Wadhwani, praised Lilian Ng’s contributions, noting her pivotal role in expanding the business in Asia and enhancing relationships with strategic bank partners. Wadhwani highlighted her efforts to build a multi-distribution platform and drive transformative growth in Greater China. He expressed deep gratitude for her leadership and significant impact over the past decades.
Wadhwani also expressed enthusiasm about Angel Ng’s appointment, citing her extensive experience in Greater China, distribution, and wealth management. He emphasized that her entrepreneurial mindset and comprehensive expertise make her the ideal candidate to lead Prudential’s Greater China markets and customer and wealth businesses.
Angel Ng will join Prudential’s group executive committee on October 1, while Lilian Ng will remain in her current role until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. After her retirement, Lilian will serve as an advisor to the CEO until June 2025. Wadhwani noted that Angel’s appointment aligns with the business strategy unveiled in August 2023, further strengthening Prudential’s capabilities.
