In Brazil, JBS Leads in Salary Disparity Among Ibovespa Companies with Top Salary 1,100 Higher than Average
JBS, a prominent member of Ibovespa, exhibits the highest salary disparity within the index. The top salary at JBS is 1,100 times greater than the company’s average salary. JBS employs 152,500 individuals in Brazil alone.
Following JBS are Rede D’Or, with a salary ratio of 625.9 times, and Localiza, at 559 times. These figures far exceed the Ibovespa average, where the highest salary is 184.5 times the average team salary.
This information stems from an exclusive survey by corporate governance consultant Renato Chaves for Folha. The survey analyzed the 83 publicly traded companies currently part of Ibovespa, which includes the most significant companies in the Brazilian capital market.
JBS, known for its brands like Seara and Friboi, did not respond to inquiries about the disparity. Rede D’Or, which manages one of the largest networks of hospitals and oncology clinics in Brazil, also declined to comment.
Localiza, a vehicle rental company, explained that the CEO’s high compensation is due to share grants included in the remuneration package. This strategy aims to cultivate “a new generation of reference shareholders with a long-term vision.”
