Travellers International Hotel Group in Change of Leadership
Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., the owner and operator of Manila’s Newport World Resorts, has named Laurence Hawke as its new Chief Financial Officer. He will assume his role in July.
Background and Experience:
Laurence Hawke brings 30 years of experience in the integrated resort sector. Most recently, he served as Group CFO at Hoiana Resort & Golf, a foreigner-only casino complex in Da Nang, Vietnam. Travellers International highlighted Mr. Hawke’s extensive experience in the pre-opening and operation of high-stakes, luxury Asian integrated resorts that encompass both gaming and non-gaming components.
Reporting Structure:
Mr. Hawke will report to the newly-appointed President and CEO of Travellers International, Nilo Rodriguez, and will collaborate closely with Executive Chairman Kevin Tan and Chief Operating Officer Lance Gautreaux.
Professional Focus:
Throughout his career, Mr. Hawke has been responsible for corporate and operational finance, including analysis, strategic planning, financial controls, and budget management.
Company Performance and Leadership Changes:
In mid-May, Travellers International reported a significant decline in its first-quarter consolidated net profit, which fell about 96% year-on-year to approximately US$136,485.
On June 3, Travellers International announced the retirement of its former President and CEO, Kingson Sian, who had been with the company since its inception 16 years ago. Additionally, former COO Hakan Dagtas and former CFO Bernard Than also departed the company as of June 1. This followed Alliance Global Inc.’s acquisition of the stake previously held by Genting Hong Kong Ltd in Travellers International.
