Hamline University Brings Michigan Technological University Veteran Susan Kerry to Serve as Vice President for Finance and Administration and CFO
Hamline University has announced Susan Kerry as its new Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer. Kerry, who brings 28 years of experience in higher education finance, previously held the position of Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration and CFO at Michigan Technological University.
Kerry’s academic credentials include a business and higher education administration degree from Northwestern University in Illinois, followed by an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Her extensive career in higher education finance includes significant roles in Michigan and Minnesota.
During her tenure at Michigan Tech, Kerry oversaw a $350 million operating budget and a $253 million endowment. She also served as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees and Director of the Michigan Tech Fund Board of Directors. Her responsibilities included managing non-academic operations across a 1,000-acre campus, 16 centers and institutes, and $100 million in research expenditures.
Before her role at Michigan Tech, Kerry was Vice President for Finance and CFO at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth from 2015 to 2019 and Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 2012 to 2015.
Kerry’s appointment at Hamline University follows a comprehensive nationwide search. Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Kerry highlighted Hamline’s unique position in Minnesota’s higher education landscape and expressed her honor to join the leadership team during a pivotal time for the university.
Kerry expressed excitement about collaborating with President Murray, the senior leadership team, the board of trustees, and the broader Hamline community to support the university’s mission. She also thanked President Murray and the search committee for their engagement and welcome.
