Extravagant Mediterranean Cruise Marks Ambani-Merchant Wedding Festivities

An extravagant wedding celebration for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant unfolds aboard a luxury Mediterranean cruise from May 28 to 30, with around 800 guests setting sail from Barcelona.

Despite the event’s confidentiality, the arrival of nearly a dozen private jets last Monday, including an Atlas Air Boeing 747-400F and an Air X Charter Airbus A340-300 from Bombay, indicated another grand Indian wedding in the city, reminiscent of previous high-profile celebrations like Lakshmi Mittal’s niece’s wedding in 2013 and the modernist Sant Pau event in 2022.

This celebration follows a spectacular pre-wedding party held in Jamnagar in March, featuring a guest list of global icons such as Rihanna, Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump, and Mark Zuckerberg, alongside Bollywood stars and cricket legends. The groom, Anant, is the son of Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries and one of India’s wealthiest men. The bride, Radhika, is the daughter of business magnate Viren Merchant.

The cruise is expected to visit Cannes, Portofino, and Rome, though Barcelona was not originally listed as a stop. Organizers of previous Indian weddings in Barcelona have no information suggesting a local celebration will take place.

On board the cruise, guests will enjoy a variety of activities, including themed parties, costume events, and sightseeing excursions at various ports. A space-themed party under the Mediterranean stars has been revealed as one of the event highlights. Radhika is expected to dazzle in an outfit designed by Grace Ling Couture, made from aerospace aluminum, fitting the galactic theme.

To ensure a seamless experience, up to 600 employees have been mobilized to cater to the guests. The couple’s pre-wedding event in March featured charter flights, private vehicles, and services from makeup artists, bartenders, chefs, and performances by artists such as Rihanna, Akon, and Diljit Dosanjh. This Mediterranean cruise is just one part of the multi-event wedding celebration. The official ceremony is slated for July 10 to 12 in Bombay.
