Alexandre Sorel Succeeds Retiring CEO Remy Bayle at Stellantis Financial Services Division in Europe and South America
In a strategic move set to take effect from April 1, 2024, Stellantis has appointed Alexandre Sorel as the incoming Chief Executive Officer for its financial services arm in Europe and South America. Sorel steps into this pivotal role, succeeding Remy Bayle, who has opted for retirement after an illustrious 38-year tenure within the company.
Having graduated from the esteemed Reims Management School, Alexandre Sorel boasts a career entrenched in the automotive domain. Since 1994, he has been an integral part of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group, assuming various pivotal finance positions. His transition into banking commenced in 2009, culminating in his appointment as Chief Financial Officer of Banque PSA Finance in 2015. Noteworthy milestones include his involvement in the acquisition of Opel and Vauxhall financing arms in Europe and the cultivation of a fruitful partnership with BNP Paribas. Ascending to the role of CEO at Opel Vauxhall Finance in 2017, Sorel further solidified his reputation as a leader in the financial sector. His recent stewardship at Stellantis Bank, overseeing operations across Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom, underscores his readiness for this new challenge.
Philippe de Rovira, Stellantis’s Chief Affiliates Officer, expressed confidence in Sorel’s appointment, citing his proven track record and adept leadership in business transformation. Sorel’s mandate is clear: to spearhead the growth trajectory of Stellantis Financial Services in Europe and South America, amplifying its role as a premier provider of accessible mobility solutions and fortifying its position as a leader in sustainable vehicle financing.
Acknowledging Remy Bayle’s invaluable contributions, de Rovira extended heartfelt gratitude for his service and wished him well in his future endeavors.
