Simon Clinton Succeeds Andy Jones as CFO of Safestore

CEO office

Safestore, the UK’s premier self-storage group, has announced the appointment of Simon Clinton as its Chief Financial Officer. Clinton will officially join Safestore on Monday, March 11, 2024, and will assume a Director position on the Board following a brief induction and onboarding period no later than May 31, 2024. He succeeds Andy Jones, who announced his intention to retire on September 28, 2023. To ensure a smooth transition, Andy Jones has agreed to remain with Safestore for an appropriate period.

Bringing a wealth of experience spanning the real estate, retail, and consumer sectors, Clinton joins Safestore from Logicor, Europe’s leading warehouse and logistics group. His tenure at Logicor, where he served as Director of Group Finance before assuming the role of CFO in 2018, underscores his proficiency in financial leadership. Prior to Logicor, Clinton held senior finance roles at Tesco plc for over nine years, following earlier experience at Diageo plc. He is a chartered accountant.

David Hearn, Chairman of Safestore, expresses his delight at Clinton’s appointment, highlighting his accomplished track record and extensive industry expertise. He anticipates Clinton’s contributions to significantly benefit the company’s strategic growth initiatives.

Frederic Vecchioli, CEO of Safestore, echoes Hearn’s sentiments, emphasizing Clinton’s invaluable sector knowledge, particularly in European real estate, as instrumental to Safestore’s continued expansion efforts. He looks forward to collaborating closely with Clinton to drive sustained shareholder value.

Clinton himself expresses his enthusiasm for joining Safestore, commending the company’s dynamic business model and consistent growth trajectory. He pledges to work alongside Vecchioli and the entire team to capitalize on Safestore’s robust foundation and foster further long-term value creation.
