Porter Airlines Welcomes Rob Palmer in the Role of CFO and EVP

Porter Airlines has appointed Rob Palmer as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as announced in a press release on Wednesday. Palmer brings with him a wealth of experience in the aviation industry, having most recently served at The Calgary Airport Authority as Vice President of Commercial, Strategy, and Chief Financial Officer.

During his tenure at The Calgary Airport Authority, Palmer oversaw various critical aspects such as long-term planning, capital requirements, budgeting, internal controls, treasury, and reporting. His previous experience at WestJet as Vice President and Controller further strengthens his expertise in airline finances.

Palmer brings over two decades of experience in public company management, capital markets, financial management, and strategic planning. His previous roles include Chief Financial Officer at Northview Residential REIT, as well as senior leadership positions at Molson and BCE Emergis.

Expressing his excitement about joining Porter Airlines during a transformative period in the airline industry, Palmer emphasized his commitment to contributing to Porter’s growth and success. He expressed enthusiasm for working in the aviation sector and collaborating with industry professionals to elevate Porter Airlines to become one of the leading carriers in North America.

Porter Airlines’ CEO, Michael Deluce, expressed confidence in Palmer’s capabilities, citing his deep understanding of airport operations and airline finances. Deluce highlighted Palmer’s tenure at WestJet, which coincided with the airline’s rapid expansion, similar to Porter’s current trajectory as it evolves into a North American carrier.
