States with the Highest Number of Active-Duty Military Personnel

The United States has one of the largest and most powerful military forces in the world, with an impressive 1.3 million active-duty personnel serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. While approximately 160,000 of these brave individuals are currently deployed overseas, most are stationed at one of the 450-plus military bases spread across the United States.

In fact, every state in the country has at least one military base, with California being home to the most and Wyoming having the least. Additionally, Virginia boasts the largest military base in the country, the Norfolk Naval Base, where an impressive 47,000 active-duty personnel are proudly stationed.
