The Giant Company Names Rebecca Lupfer as CFO and Dave Lessard as SVP of Operations

The Giant Company made an official announcement, appointing Rebecca Lupfer as Chief Financial Officer and Dave Lessard as Senior Vice President of Operations, Customer Experience, and Perishable Distribution. Both of them will report directly to The Giant Company’s President, John Ruane. Their appointments are effective starting Monday, October 16.

In her new role, Lupfer will be responsible for overseeing the finance, format, real estate, and strategy departments. Meanwhile, Lessard will take charge of the retail operations, perishable distribution, and transportation teams.

Rebecca Lupfer started her career at Highmark Blue Cross and then joined Ahold Financial Services in 2005 as a business analyst. Over the years, she held various internal audit positions with increasing responsibility. In 2016, she became a portfolio lead for seasonal merchandising at Ahold USA. She joined The Giant Company in 2018 as the Director of Merchandising Planning and was promoted to Vice President of Merchandising, Center Store in 2019. Her most recent role was as Divisional President of the company’s Mid-Atlantic division, overseeing retail operations at 100 Giant and Martin’s stores in Central and Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, a position she has held since February 2022.

Rebecca Lupfer is currently a member of the board of directors for the Academy of Food Marketing and The Food Marketing Educational Foundation at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Dave Lessard, on the other hand, had a career spanning nearly 25 years at The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), holding various positions in merchandising and operations. He joined the Ahold Delhaize family of brands in 2002 as the Director of Produce at Giant Landover, where he also served as Vice President of Produce. At Ahold USA, he took on several roles, including Director of Produce and Vice President of Produce and Floral, playing a significant role in the transformation of the company’s production department in 2014. He became part of The Giant Company in 2018 as Vice President of Fresh Merchandising, overseeing various departments such as produce, meat and seafood, bakery, deli, prepared foods, and floral. In 2022, he expanded his responsibilities to include oversight of the company’s perishable distribution center.

Dave Lessard is currently a member of the board of directors for the York County Food Bank and serves on the Food Marketing Institute Fresh Food Leadership Council.
