Bobby Kotick Confirms he will be CEO of Activision Blizzard until the end of 2023
Following the successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, Bobby Kotick has confirmed that he will continue as CEO until the end of 2023. In a letter addressed to the employees of the company, Kotick expressed his commitment to aiding in the forthcoming transition period and frequently mentioned the Head of Microsoft’s Gaming Division, Phil Spencer.
Kotick initially served as CEO of Activision from February 1991 until July 2008. Subsequently, he assumed the role of CEO at Activision Blizzard, a move that followed the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games. Given his substantial ownership stake in the company and the completion of the acquisition, he is poised to receive a substantial financial windfall, potentially totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. Additionally, his contract includes provisions for a severance payment in the event of contract termination or if he decides to depart within the first year following the acquisition.
