Bert Althaus Joins Apex as CFO

Bert Althaus, aged 45, has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of APEX GROUP, effective from October 1, 2023. In his capacity as CFO, he will be responsible for managing the group’s finances and supporting the capital markets strategy, which forms the foundation for implementing the company’s growth plan. Since its acquisition by exceet Group SCA in January 2023, APEX Group has significantly expanded its portfolio of key projects in the German hydrogen market and its project pipeline. The company has also made substantial progress in its strategy to become a leading decentralized provider of green hydrogen in Europe, as evidenced by its plans to construct a 600MW electrolysis plant in Lubmin.

In his prior role as CFO at Autodoc SE, Bert Althaus was responsible for Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Process and project Management since 2021. Autodoc SE, with more than 5,000 employees, generates approximately EUR 1 billion in revenue and operates online stores for automotive, truck, and motorcycle spare parts across 27 European countries. From 2019 to 2021, he served as CFO at the publicly traded company Spark Networks SE, where he managed post-merger integration, SAP implementation, risk management, and refinancing. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2019, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Finance at Home24 SE, another publicly listed company, where he played a key role in the IPO, organizational transformation, and the establishment of the Investor Relations department. Bert Althaus initiated his career after earning a degree in business management from Friedrich Schiller University Jena. He started at the auditing and consulting firm EY and eventually held the position of Manager in the Assurance & Advisory Business Services division.

Founded in Germany in 2000, APEX Group has been exclusively focused on hydrogen electrolysis plants since 2012. APEX’s mission is to become a globally recognized developer and operator of hydrogen plants.
