Pokeworks Appoints Regina Cheung for the role of CEO

Regina Cheung has assumed the role of CEO at Pokeworks, marking a significant step forward as the restaurant company embarks on its inaugural international expansion endeavors.

Cheung, who previously served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Pokeworks, now holds dual positions, ensuring her continued involvement in financial strategies. Under her stewardship as CFO, she fostered a data-driven environment, cultivated strong relationships with franchisees, and modernized the company’s systems and infrastructure.

In her new capacity as CEO, Cheung will broaden her focus to enhance franchisee profitability, introduce the brand to novel markets, and harness the collective strengths of the company’s team and board to establish a scalable business model.

Cheung’s appointment marks a transition from Steve Heeley, who held the CEO position since August 2021.

Notably, Pokeworks demonstrated remarkable growth from 2021 to 2022, boasting a unit count increase of over 10%, as reported by Datassential. During the same period, sales experienced a substantial surge of 31%.

Cheung’s appointment is notable as she becomes Pokeworks’ first female and Asian American CEO. Her ascendancy aligns strategically with the company’s aspirations for international expansion, with a series of new locations set to launch in Toronto by year-end.
