What You Should Know About The Canadian School Of Florence

Private kindergarten

The rise of international schools has been remarkable in Italy. The educational system is multicultural, infrastructurally advanced, and collaborative in curricula. Due to globally relevant pedagogy, Italians and non-Italians find these schools ideal platforms for their children.

Depending on several factors, including location and financial condition, you can choose from a range of international schools in Italy. At CEOWorld, we’ve already covered quite many of them. In today’s article, we’ll also come up with yet another good option for school education.

As the title suggests, it is time we found out some things about the Canadian School of Florence (CSF).

  1. Why CSF

Now, before you get into specifics, let’s know why the school may be a perfect fit for your child:

    • The school follows the Canadian Ontario curriculum; it is a highly ranked curriculum in the world.
    • It claims to appoint a well-read and qualified faculty across academic phases.
    • English immersion programs are conducted.
    • Emphasis is made on learning the most popular skills currently, including STEAM.
    • The school diploma is internationally recognized by leading universities.
  1. Academic Programs

As far as academic programs are concerned, four of them are instructed:

    • Kindergarten: Children in the age group of 3-5 are enrolled in the kindergarten program. The Jolly Phonics approach is used to teach literacy.
    • Primary School: In this academic program, children from grades 1 and 5 are enrolled. Focus is shifted to English language Arts, Math, Science and Technology, Social Studies, and Visual Arts. The program has Italian Paritaria accreditation.
    • Middle School: Academic curriculum at the Middle School phase incorporate Canadian, Italian, and International practices. Critical thinking is encouraged.
    • Senior School: In this phase, college preparation is the focus. Mandatory studies include sciences, history, math, English, Civics & Careers, and Geography. A number of electives are offered as well, such as Law, Economics, and Fashion.
  1. Extra-curriculars at CSF

Throughout the academic programs, extra-curriculars are given due attention. For the same, financial and infrastructural support are extended.

The activities in which students can take part include volleyball, soccer, basketball, languages, graphic design, AI, embroidery, and music. Student Council is organized to manage affairs at the student level through chosen representatives. The school encourages students to participate in international events and summer camps.

  1. Admissions Process

Interested parents may want to remember these details for the admissions process:

    • An online or in-person meeting will be conducted before an application checklist.
    • A set of documents needs to be submitted. The Admissions Committee reviews the documents and makes the decisions.
    • Before full-fledged enrollment, Middle and Senior school applicants get to spend a trial day at CSF. The purpose of the day is to give a first-hand experience of what to expect.
    • Once the trial day ends, a Contract and Payment Plan is sent to the family.
    • There may be additional entrance requirements in certain academic programs; for example, a B2 English language certificate will have to be provided for senior school applicants.
