Tubi appointed Anjali Sud as its new Chief Executive Officer. Sud will officially join Fox Corp.’s free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service on Sept. 1, 2023, succeeding founder Farhad Massoudi. Sud will report to Paul Cheesbrough, CEO of Tubi Media Group, which Fox formed this spring to house its digital businesses, including Tubi (acquired in 2020), Credible, Blockchain Creative Labs as well as the digital platforms and teams that support Fox sports, news, and entertainment divisions.
In March, Tubi was the most-watched FAST service in the U.S. based on total TV viewing minutes. The streamer reports 64 million monthly active users.
“We are witnessing a seismic shift in where and how content will be consumed, and I believe that Tubi can become the destination for the next generation of audiences,” said Sud in a statement.
“The future of streaming TV is free, and I am excited to join the Tubi team to help shape the next wave of entertainment by giving all people access to all the world’s stories,” Sud added. “Tubi is doing things differently in a space that is being imminently disrupted, which is my kind of opportunity.”
“Anjali is a highly accomplished executive in the technology and media industry with a passion and track record for strategic disruption and authentic leadership,” Cheesbrough said in announcing her hire. “As Tubi continues to scale and solidify its momentum as the most watched free TV and movie streaming service in the U.S., she is the perfect candidate to lead Tubi into a new era of creativity, growth and market leadership.”
Anjali Sud has been CEO of Vimeo (Nasdaq: VMEO) since July 2017. She previously served as VP of global marketing, overseeing the platform’s growth of over 260 million users. Before that, she held various positions in e-commerce, finance, and media at Amazon and Time Warner. She has a B.Sc. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Vimeo announced Sud’s departure earlier this month. She will be succeeded by board member Adam Gross on an interim basis while the company initiates a search for a permanent replacement. Sud serves on the board of Dolby Laboratories.
