Canadian real estate billionaire Andreas Apostolopoulos dies at 69

Canadian real estate billionaire Andreas “Andy” Apostolopoulos passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at 69 years old. He immigrated to Canada as a teenager in 1969 from Messini, Kalamata in Greece.

Along with his three sons, Andreas Apostolopoulos built one of Canada’s largest privately held real estate corporations into a multi-billion dollar empire – Triple Group of Companies (TGC), based in Toronto, Ontario.

In 2009, Apostolopoulos made a splash when his investment company purchased the Pontiasophic Silverdome at auction for $583,000. A low purchase price for an 82,000-seat stadium that had been constructed in 1975 for $55.7 million.

Apostolopoulos’s company Triple Sports and Entertainment managed and operated the Silverdome as a sports and entertainment venue.

He is survived by his wife, sons Jim Apostolopoulos, Peter Apostolopoulos, and Steve Apostolopoulos, their spouses, and five grandchildren.
