Richest People In Cyprus For 2019: Who Are Cyprus’s Top Billionaires?

With an estimated net worth of $11.3 billion, Norwegian-born oil tanker and shipping magnate John Fredriksen is the wealthiest person in Cyprus, that’s according to CEOWORLD magazine’s Cyprus Rich List Index For 2019. Yakir Gabay is second on the list with $3.6 billion. According to the financial publication’s annual listing, 2019 saw the total wealth of the top 7 richest Cypriot hits a new record high of $21.7 billion.

Suat Gunsel holds the third spot with a whopping net worth of $1.8 billion, followed by Surendra Hiranandani ($1.3 billion), Stelios Haji-Ioannou ($1.3 billion), Clelia Haji-Ioannou ($1.2 billion), and Polys Haji-Ioannou ($1.2 billion). Real estate tycoon Surendra Hiranandani (No. 4) has Indian origins, being the brother of Mumbai-based billionaire, Indian property tycoon Niranjan Hiranandani ($1.3 billion). Surendra Hiranandani, 63, along with his elder brother Niranjan, turned their real estate company into one of the largest in India and developed Mumbai’s Powai into a thriving residential area.

Several Cypriot billionaires have opted for dual citizenship, for example, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, owner of the low-cost airline EasyJet, is estimated by CEOWORLD magazine to have a wealth of $1.3 billion, but his residence in Monaco, while his shipowner brother Polys Haji-Ioannou fortune is estimated at $1.2 billion. He, too, is a Cypriot but with residency in Monaco.

Their sister, Clelia Haji-Ioannou, has a fortune of $1.2 billion and like her siblings is a Cypriot with residency in Monaco.
