Business Attire: Top 5 Fashion Trends For Men To Follow In 2019

BusinessMan

As commonly said, first impression is the last impression! Believe it or not, the way you dress makes up for a huge part of your personality. Quite a few times, men assume that fashion trends are for the women, however, staying updated with the latest changes in any field is reflective of your personal growth and development.

Well, we understand that keeping up with fashion trends can be overwhelmingly difficult and that’s why we bring to you top 5 men fashion trends of 2019.

  1. PINSTRIPES
Pulling them straight from the ‘80s, this forgotten fashion trend has made a very fortunate comeback. British bankers birthed the style in the 19th century, though back then they were more interested in blending in than standing out. In fact, each bank had its own stripe, varying in shade and weight, which identified who worked for which.

A sober pinstripe in a dark navy looks smart and sophisticated when all the constituent parts are done just right. Also, it is advisable to keep your accessories with this outfit, relatively toned down. For example, pick either a pocket square or a tie bar, not both. If you’re going double-breasted, you really don’t need any embellishments.

Pinstripes look especially well on men that are lean. All that up-down movement means beanpoles look longer and shorter guys can use that effect to their advantage. Narrower pinstripes makes you look taller and if they’re further apart you look wider.

  1. ANIMAL STRIPES
Who says animal print is just for women? Well, not in 2019 at least! Nowadays, it’s making an entry in men’s fashion, if not more than it is for women. However, you’ll need to exercise caution. You’ll need to be careful to choose tiger print since that’s the latest-and-greatest animal print trend to hit stores. With your animal print, splurge for outerwear. Warm your style up with a tiger print sweater in the cold season. Wear this look with distressed jeans or leather pants.

On the other hand, if making a statement isn’t your style, or you simply want to build up to a bolder print by experimenting with subtler detailing, then utilising leopard print is the way to go. A printed pocket on a plain tee or maybe a pair of socks glinting out between your trousers and trainers will inject life and personality into any look, without attracting too much attention.

  1. CROSS-BODY BAGS
Since ages, the stigma was that if you use a bag that’s less than a briefcase, you’re less than a man. But today, the stigma is on its way out. Check any Fashion Week street-style gallery. Since street style eventually trickles down to the actual street, you’re starting to see them during non–Fashion Weeks, as well.

You see, vanity doesn’t have to be at odds with something like utility. Men are now realizing how wrong they were for depriving themselves of the style and convenience of a cross-body bag. They come not only at different prices, but in every colour under the sun and in every possible pattern imaginable. Wearing a cross-body feels like unlocking some kind of style secret—that we went this long without wearing them is a mistake.

  1. CHECKERS
Plaid and geometric shapes are officially in-trend this year. Plaids are perfect for the winter months, but we’ll hopefully see the checker look run its course into other seasons of 2019 as well.

Much like a check overcoat, something like a buffalo plaid shirt is versatile. Wear it with faded jeans and a tee for a retro-inspired style or use a neutral-colour check in a more formal, tonal look with tailored trousers and maybe even a lightweight jacket.

For relatively less cold days, a short-sleeved check is a great option. Being experimental with check catches everyone’s eyes – something like a bright red or mustard madras short-sleeved shirt with a  pair of light wash jeans will have you looking on point!

  1. CHUNKY SWEATERS

From the cable-knit pullover to the shawl-collar cardigan, thick, masculine knitwear is at the pinnacle this year. Take note that this doesn’t mean that you need to discard all your body hugging wearables. Chunky knits are a good option for casual layering on your days off, while slim thin-weave sweaters are the way to go for the office.  So, coming winter, make sure to try putting a little extra meat on your bones—in the form of a whole lot of wool!

With these fashion tips, you’re indeed ready to attack 2019 with your style game on point! And as always, don’t be afraid to experiment or think out of the box, because at the end of the day, your outfit should, indeed, be a reflection of your persona.
