Sun Life Malaysia Names Noor Azam Bin Mohd Yusof as New CEO of Takaful Division

Sun Life Malaysia has appointed Noor Azam bin Mohd Yusof as the chief executive officer of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (SLMT), following the retirement of Jeffry Azmi. In his new role, Azam will oversee all aspects of the business, ensuring Syariah compliance and governance while driving the execution of SLMT’s business strategy. His leadership will be instrumental in sustaining growth and strengthening the company’s position as a leading bancatakaful provider in Malaysia.

Bringing over 25 years of experience in both conventional and Takaful insurance, Azam possesses deep expertise in sales and marketing, bancassurance and bancatakaful, agency channel management, business development, and strategic business transformation. Before joining Sun Life, he served as CEO of AmMetLife Takaful since 2017. His professional background also includes nearly seven years as head of the sales and distribution division at HSBC Amanah Takaful (M) Berhad and a previous role at CIMB Aviva Assurance.

Raymond Lew, president and country head of Sun Life Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm about Azam’s appointment, stating that his leadership and deep understanding of the Takaful industry would be key to expanding the company’s market reach and impact. He also conveyed confidence that Azam, with his “Play to Win” mindset, would drive exceptional growth, innovation, and meaningful contributions for Sun Life’s clients.

Reflecting on his new role, Azam described the opportunity to lead SLMT as an honor. He reaffirmed his commitment to growing the family Takaful business and helping more Malaysians secure their financial futures in alignment with their faith. He emphasized his passion for empowering individuals to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives through financial protection.

In a related development, Sun Life Malaysia recently announced the appointment of local entertainment personality Alif Satar as its 2025 brand ambassador. With over 15 years in the industry and a social media following of more than four million, Satar also serves as the CEO of ASET Records, a company focused on fostering positive influence in the entertainment sector.

The partnership aims to enhance financial and Takaful literacy among Malaysians, with a special emphasis on legacy planning and family financial stability. As part of this initiative, Satar will play an active role in educational campaigns, including “Takaful 101,” a digital content series designed to equip Malaysians with essential knowledge on building and protecting their financial legacies through Takaful.
