Sean Desmond Elevated to CEO of nCino

US-based cloud banking solutions provider nCino has appointed its chief product officer (CPO), Sean Desmond, as the company’s new CEO and president, with the change taking effect immediately. Desmond will also join nCino’s board of directors, succeeding Pierre Naudé, who has led the company for the past 13 years.

Naudé will continue to be actively involved as executive chairman of the board, ensuring a seamless leadership transition, according to an official statement from the company.

Pamela Kilday, nCino’s lead independent director, emphasized that Desmond’s deep understanding of the business, combined with his experience in scaling multinational organizations and his forward-thinking approach to product innovation using data and AI, would position the company to capitalize on new market opportunities.

Desmond has been with nCino since 2013, initially serving as chief customer success officer before transitioning to CPO in May of the previous year, where he oversaw product development and engineering. In these roles, he managed two-thirds of the company’s total workforce.

Prior to joining nCino, he spent more than 14 years at California-based fintech Informatica, holding several senior leadership positions, including vice president of the Americas and vice president of global delivery.

Following Desmond’s appointment, Chris Gufford, executive director and general manager of nCino’s Commercial Banking solution, will step into the role of CPO.
