Forrester Study Highlights Managers’ Success With Paycom’s GONE

paycom

Managers keep organizations running smoothly, but who streamlines their work? It’s too common for managers to get buried in manual administrative work required to lead employees. For example, significant resources are poured into simple time-off requests as managers need to reconcile schedules and time-off balances and forward information to relevant payroll or HR teams. This manual task leaves room for human error, favoritism and other issues

Companies can avoid these issues and time-consuming processes by implementing a new tool: GONE®. Paycom seeks to revolutionize paid time-off requests with GONE, which automates time-off request decisions based on company-set criteria and integrates seamlessly with other Paycom tools.

What Is Paycom’s GONE?

Employees need to take time off. Unfortunately, this can impose additional demands on managers; they have to balance the schedule, track paid time off and process decisions on whether the requested time is approved.

Paycom has revolutionized the process with GONE. This time-tracking tool allows managers to configure time-off decisioning rules to automate employee requests adding consistency and transparency to the time-off decision process while maintaining appropriate levels of staffing.

To prove its effectiveness, Paycom commissioned Forrester Consulting to complete a Total Economic Impact™ study this year. The study aggregated interviewees into one composite organization with 400 employees, 30 managers and a revenue of about $300 million annually to see the overarching effect of Time-Off Requests featuring GONE.

Let’s explore how GONE benefits managers.

Impact of GONE on Managers’ Work Experience

Many of the managers of the composite organization admittedly did not prioritize the tedious time-off-related tasks as part of their day-to-day responsibilities.

Because GONE eliminates the need for manual work related to the request and approval process on the part of the manager, it saved individual managers nearly one workweek of unproductive hours each annually previously spent on disruptive tasks related to approving employee time-off requests, including:

  • navigating disconnected systems and processes
  • tallying and recording employee time-off balances
  • managing staffing levels
  • making the final decisions regarding their employees’ time off.

The study found that each manager interviewed spends between five and twelve minutes per employee and per month approving time-off requests pre-Paycom, resulting in an average burdened hourly rate for managers between $32 and $44.

A payroll manager and Paycom client from the food and beverage industry shared how GONE modernized their company’s spreadsheet-based, manual time-off process. “The warehouse would put a [spreadsheet] together when somebody requested time off, but if the manager didn’t log it, we’d have situations where you thought people were coming in who weren’t. Now with Paycom, it can’t. We even have tablets in the warehouses for people who only have flip phones [to work in Paycom].”

The client estimated that GONE saved each manager 16 to 32 hours annually. “There are simply much fewer interruptions for the managers [with Paycom].”

By eliminating these tasks for managers, the composite organization recognizes upwards of $75,000 present value labor savings on these tasks alone over three years. Implementing GONE also supported the client’s long-term business goals, enabling significant savings by eliminating redundant payroll vendor contracts and quickly onboarding recent acquisitions to Paycom.
