Iran and EU to Hold Second Round of Nuclear Talks in January 2025
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the second round of nuclear negotiations with European Union countries is scheduled to take place in January 2025.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the upcoming discussions would involve Iran and the three European signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. He noted that the talks would primarily focus on nuclear-related matters and recent developments in the West Asia region.
Iran Urges IAEA to Maintain Neutrality
In a separate development, Iranian authorities have urged Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to uphold the agency’s impartiality in its assessments of Iran’s nuclear activities.
Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, addressed Grossi’s recent remarks regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment levels, which he had described as approaching military-grade thresholds.
Grossi, during an interview with the Italian news agency ANSA in Rome, reportedly dismissed attempts to restore the 2015 nuclear agreement—formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He suggested that the deal was no longer relevant and emphasized the need for a new agreement that considers the evolving realities of Iran’s nuclear program.
The developments come amid ongoing international scrutiny over Iran’s nuclear activities and efforts to establish a diplomatic framework to address concerns surrounding the country’s enrichment capabilities.
