Alastair Thomann Named CEO of Edyn, Succeeding Interim Leader
Edyn, the serviced apartment and aparthotel group, has announced the appointment of Alastair Thomann as CEO, effective immediately. He replaces Daniel Carre-Bishop, who had been serving as interim CEO and will now resume his responsibilities as CFO.
Thomann brings extensive leadership experience to his new role, having previously served as CEO of Generator and Freehand Hotels. During his tenure, he led the $400 million acquisition of Freehand Hotels, which facilitated the group’s expansion into the North American market.
Before his time at Generator and Freehand Hotels, he held the position of global managing director at Penta Hotels, a subsidiary of Rosewood Hotel Group.
In his new capacity at edyn, Thomann will be responsible for overseeing the company’s hotel development pipeline, which includes the opening of Locke hotels in Paris in February 2025 and Copenhagen in the first quarter of 2026.
Commenting on his new role, Thomann expressed enthusiasm about joining edyn at what he described as a pivotal moment for the company. He acknowledged the record revenue achieved over the past year and the successful launch of edyn’s largest property to date—the 370-key Locke de Santa Joana in Lisbon. He attributed these accomplishments to the hard work of the team and conveyed his eagerness to build upon the company’s strong foundation. He emphasized his commitment to driving edyn’s continued growth by leveraging its focus on innovation, design, and a distinctive approach to hospitality.
