Delivery Hero Names New CEO for Woowa Brothers
Delivery Hero SE, a global leader in local delivery platforms, has announced the appointment of Bum Seok Austin Kim as CEO of Woowa Brothers, its Korean subsidiary operating the online delivery platform Baedal Minjok (Baemin). The appointment, effective immediately, was made by Woowa’s Board of Directors. Kim succeeds Pieter-Jan Vandepitte, Delivery Hero’s Chief Operating Officer, who had been serving as interim CEO of Woowa Brothers since July 2024.
Delivery Hero’s COO expressed confidence in Kim’s capabilities, citing his entrepreneurial expertise and accomplishments in platform delivery technology as essential assets for driving Woowa Brothers’ next phase of innovation and profitability in Korea. Vandepitte highlighted the significance of Kim’s leadership in reinforcing the company’s presence in this dynamic market.
Before assuming his new role, Kim held senior leadership positions at global on-demand platform businesses. He was instrumental in introducing food delivery platform Glovo and ride-hailing app Uber to Turkey. Most recently, he served as the founding CEO of Trendyol Go, a prominent Turkish e-commerce platform, for five years. Kim is a graduate of George Washington University, where he earned a BA in International Affairs and Economics.
As Woowa Brothers’ CEO, Kim emphasized the importance of enhancing customer experiences and maintaining the company’s reputation for best-in-class delivery services. He outlined plans to explore new growth opportunities while contributing to the advancement of Korea’s local commerce industry.
