Thruvision Group plc (AIM: THRU), a prominent provider of walk-through security technology, has announced that Victoria Balchin, the current Chief Financial Officer, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer starting January 2, 2025. This internal promotion follows the departure of the former CEO, Colin Evans, in October 2024.
The Board of Directors, after a comprehensive evaluation, unanimously decided on Balchin’s appointment, citing her extensive contributions during her tenure as CFO since October 1, 2022. Her leadership during the transitional period following Evans’ exit played a key role in their decision.
Balchin will retain her CFO responsibilities alongside her new role, supported by Hannah Platt, the Company Secretary and a qualified accountant. Meanwhile, Executive Chairman Tom Black will continue to be actively involved, with a particular focus on overseeing the company’s sales operations, which are currently under review.
Executive Chairman Tom Black expressed his confidence in the appointment, stating that Balchin’s performance over the past two years, particularly in recent months, demonstrated her capability to guide Thruvision through its next phase, which he described as pivotal for achieving profitability.
The company’s choice to promote internally underscores its strategy to leverage established talent and ensure leadership continuity. As Thruvision enters the latter part of the financial year, it is directing efforts towards growth and profitability, aligning with its strategic objectives.
The announcement marks a significant milestone for Thruvision as it prepares for its next chapter under Balchin’s leadership.
