Leadership Revamp at GDG: New Roles, Familiar Faces
Generation Development Group (GDG), an ASX-listed investment firm, has announced internal leadership changes. Former Olympic swimmer Grant Hackett has been named chief executive officer, while Rob Coombe transitions to the role of executive chair.
Hackett’s new position comes with an annual fixed salary of $615,531, supplemented by superannuation and the potential to earn short-term incentives equaling up to half of his base pay. Notably, this compensation mirrors the package he received as CEO and managing director of GDG’s subsidiary, Generation Life.
Coombe’s annual remuneration will increase to $250,000, including superannuation—a $62,500 rise from his previous role as non-executive chair. He will also be eligible for short-term incentives up to 100% of his fixed pay.
The two executives bring extensive shared experience to their new roles, having worked together at GDG for seven years. Hackett has been leading Generation Life since February 2020 and will now be succeeded by Felipe Araujo, currently the general manager for distribution and marketing.
Since assuming the chairmanship in July 2017, Coombe has played a pivotal role in steering the company. As executive chair, he plans to collaborate closely with Hackett on critical strategic initiatives, focusing on the group’s growth and innovation over the next one to two years.
