Asia’s Richest: Ambani’s Backed Addverb Technologies to Unveil Humanoid Robots

Noida-based Addverb Technologies, backed by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has announced plans to launch its first humanoid robot in 2025. These robots are designed to handle tasks across a range of sectors, including fashion, retail, and energy, according to Addverb’s CEO, Sangeet Kumar. However, the company has yet to disclose details on pricing or specific functions the robots will perform.

The move comes at a time when several high-profile companies are developing similar robots to manage routine or time-consuming tasks. Key players in this emerging market include Elon Musk’s Tesla, Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, Figure AI, and various Chinese firms. By entering this competitive space, Ambani, the wealthiest individual in India and Asia, is positioning his company to challenge leading U.S. and Chinese competitors.

Addverb’s humanoid robots are expected to cater to industries like fashion, retail, and energy, though specifics remain under wraps. In addition to Addverb, Ambani has also invested in Hanooman AI, a company launched by BharatGPT earlier this year, signaling his broader interest in the AI and robotics sector.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk recently showcased Tesla’s new Robotaxis and the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot at the “We, Robot” event. He indicated that the Optimus robots would soon be available on the market, with a projected price range of $20,000 to $25,000. Analysts anticipate these robots could become commonplace by 2040.

Sangeet Kumar of Addverb acknowledged the significant financial investment required to develop humanoid robots but expressed confidence in the company’s ability to compete with international firms from the U.S., Europe, and China. He noted that, despite the advantage of government subsidies for Chinese robots, Addverb’s offerings are being built to match global standards.
