THE TEACHER HUMILITY

Members of any team, including those in academic institutions, are more open and willing to share more ideas and conversations when they work in a psychologically safe work environment. The team spends more time solving problems than managing member relationships (Bradley et al., 2012).

Resilience with varying degrees of intensity toward adept cooperation. This team is renowned for its members’ ability to work together and for the leader’s vision, which sets the team’s course. The dedication and participation of teammates in varying proportions—teaching and non-teaching staff of an institution are both as vital to their trades. According to Mckinsey, 97% of working teams, including top management, feel that a team’s inability to work together positively affects the achievement of organizational objectives.

The author’s improvised modification on the profile of a teacher selected at random sampling across India is encouraging:

  • Purpose & Goals – 97%
  • Passion & Commitment – 96%
  • Skill & Learning – 94%
  • Problem Solving – 88%
  • Inter Group Relations 86%
  • Team process 85%
  • Roles – 84%
  • Team Relationships 82%

The theme of World Teachers Day 2024, “Valuing Teachers Voices,” will require some time to develop and may require more work from the international academic community.

All of this to hone their foundational knowledge, flexible mind-set, and awareness in striking a balance between institutional obligations and personal development. Ultimately, the culture of work at any institution should always support faculty and students in reaching decisions as a group for the benefit of education, humanity, and business at large.

The teachers’ humility continues to enhance the capacity for learning, including their own learning as educators. I am proud to be on-board.

Happy World Teachers Day to all Global colleagues.
