Robert Gilby Steps Down as Dentsu APAC CEO

Robert Gilby, who had been serving as Chief Executive Officer of Dentsu APAC, has stepped down from his role. Appointed in September 2022, Gilby took over from Ashish Bhasin and was tasked with unifying Dentsu’s Asia Pacific operations under the ‘One Dentsu’ strategy. His mandate also included driving growth and enhancing regional integration.

With almost 30 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Gilby has worked extensively across the Asia Pacific region, holding prominent positions at companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Warner Media, and PwC. His experience spans key markets like China, India, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Dentsu, Gilby served as president of APAC at Nielsen, where he worked on strengthening relationships with media owners, brands, and agencies to provide audience insights across the media ecosystem. Earlier in his career, he founded Blue Hat Ventures, an investment and advisory firm that focused on identifying and commercializing high-growth digital media businesses in Asia Pacific.

In addition to his corporate roles, Gilby has held non-executive advisory and board positions with Singapore’s Ministry of Communications & Information and the InfoComm Media Development Authority, and he previously chaired the Singapore Media Festival.
