The Board of Directors of Oma Savings Bank Plc (OmaSp) has announced the appointment of Karri Alameri, M.Sc. (Econ.), CEFA, as the company’s new CEO. Alameri is set to assume his role no later than April 1, 2025. In the interim, Sarianna Liiri will continue as acting CEO until Alameri takes over.
Born in 1963, Alameri brings extensive experience from the financial sector. He joins OmaSp from the Savings Banks Group, where he has been serving as CEO since 2022. Previously, he held a series of senior management positions within the Savings Banks Group, OP Financial Group, and Danske Bank.
Jaakko Ossa, Chairman of the Board, expressed his satisfaction with the search process, which began in June, and praised its swift progress and successful outcome. He highlighted Alameri’s strong leadership abilities, which have earned him wide respect within the financial sector. Ossa remarked that Alameri is the ideal choice to guide the company into its next phase and emphasized his confidence in Alameri’s capacity to continue executing OmaSp’s strategic goals.
Alameri, reflecting on his appointment, acknowledged the skilled personnel and satisfied customer base at OmaSp. While noting the recent challenges the bank has faced, he expressed his optimism about leveraging the institution’s strengths to restore growth and profitability. He conveyed his enthusiasm about leading Finland’s largest savings bank and looked forward to building on its solid foundation.
The appointment remains subject to the approval of the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA). OmaSp is a financially stable and profitable Finnish bank. Its network of approximately 500 professionals operates through 45 branch offices and digital channels, serving over 200,000 private and corporate customers across the nation.
