Leadership Transition at All.Space: John Finney Steps Down, Paul McCarter Takes Over as CEO
John Finney was the founder of the satellite terminal company All.Space, has decided to step down from his position as CEO. The company announced on Wednesday that Paul McCarter would immediately succeed Finney as CEO.
Finney, who was formerly the chief commercial officer at O3b Networks, established the company in 2013 under the name Isotropic Systems. His goal was to develop a multi-orbit antenna that would complement the innovation of emerging multi-orbit satellite constellations. The company rebranded itself as All.Space in 2022 to better reflect its focus.
At the heart of All.Space’s technological innovation is its multi-orbit, multi-beam satellite terminal, which enables users to connect with multiple satellites in various orbits simultaneously while maintaining high-performance links. This technology has been validated through testing with the U.S. military.
In a LinkedIn post, Finney reflected on his journey as a founder, emphasizing that one of the most important lessons he learned was knowing when to pass on the leadership role. He will continue to be involved with All.Space as a founder and board director. He expressed that building a company from scratch requires passion and dedication, but true leadership involves recognizing when new perspectives and diverse skills are needed to take the company to new heights. By stepping down as CEO, he believes he is positioning All.Space for future opportunities.
McCarter, who joined All.Space, as Chief Operations Officer in January, is now assuming the role of CEO. Finney explained that McCarter’s transition has been carefully orchestrated over a six-month period to ensure a seamless change for customers as the company gears up to increase its activities.
McCarter brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served in the British Army and held CEO and managing director positions at companies such as Racal, Thales, Cobham, and Serco. He expressed enthusiasm about leading All.Space at this pivotal moment, noting that Finney’s vision has provided a solid foundation with the company’s innovative satellite technology. McCarter stated his eagerness to work alongside Finney and the team to drive growth and expand their groundbreaking solutions to a wider range of clients.
