Sanjay Singhal Takes the Helm as CEO of Wagh Bakri Tea Group

Sanjay Singhal, formerly the Chief Operating Officer at ITC, has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Wagh Bakri Tea Group. While at ITC, Singhal oversaw various facets of the dairy and beverages division.

Singhal acknowledged his new role by expressing that it was a significant and patriotic move, particularly on the 78th Independence Day of India. He reflected on how the Wagh Bakri Tea brand, which was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi to be established in India after the promoters returned from South Africa, has remained steadfast in its commitment to serving Indian consumers.

Singhal’s professional journey began with Lakme Lever, and he subsequently held key positions at prominent companies such as Hindustan Unilever and Yum! Restaurants International, GE Capital, Aditya Birla Capital, and Dabur India.

In his previous role as the Chief Marketing Officer at Aditya Birla Group, Singhal managed the marketing and public relations efforts for Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund. At Dabur India, as the head of the Foods division, he held profit and loss responsibilities for the approximately ₹2,000 Crore ($320 million) business, which included major brands like Real, Hajmola, and Honey. Singhal also contributed to process improvements within the marketing function and participated in discussions on mergers and acquisitions, as well as regulatory affairs. Prior to this, he managed the Skin Care division at Dabur India.
