Antwerp World Diamond Centre Names Karen Rentmeesters as Permanent CEO
The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has appointed Karen Rentmeesters as its new permanent CEO following a successful three-month tenure as interim CEO.
The Board of Directors reached a unanimous decision to promote Rentmeesters to the role, effective immediately, as announced last week. Rentmeesters brings over 14 years of experience within the AWDC, having previously served as communications officer and head of public relations and industry relations. She stepped into the interim CEO position after the departure of Ari Epstein in April. Her responsibilities will include steering Antwerp back to growth by optimizing the AWDC’s operations.
Isidore Mörsel, President of AWDC’s Board of Directors, expressed strong confidence in Rentmeesters’ leadership. He highlighted that the unanimous board decision reflects their trust in her abilities. During her interim period, Rentmeesters proved to be an invaluable asset to the organization, demonstrating a deep understanding of the diamond industry and its current challenges. Mörsel praised her willingness to make tough decisions and her creative problem-solving skills, emphasizing that her experience and approach make her the ideal choice for the role.
