Average Wealth in Belgium Reaches $362,408 UBS Global Wealth Report Says
According to the 2023 Global Wealth Report by Swiss bank UBS, Belgium stands out as one of the wealthiest countries in the world, consistently performing well in terms of median wealth. This metric, which represents the midpoint of the wealth distribution, highlights Belgium’s strong position.
In 2023, Belgium’s median wealth reached $256,187, ranking just behind Luxembourg ($372,258) and Australia ($261,805). Despite a slight decline from its top position in 2022, Belgium maintains a high ranking. When it comes to average wealth, Belgium is 11th globally, with an average wealth of $362,408.
Belgium’s prominence in the UBS wealth rankings can be attributed to high rates of home ownership and strong savings habits among its citizens. The report includes financial assets, pension savings, and real estate (minus debts) in its calculations. Belgians typically own their homes and prioritize saving, contributing to the nation’s wealth. Nonetheless, the high median wealth indicates a more equitable distribution of wealth in Belgium compared to countries with a larger proportion of ultra-wealthy individuals.
