Sophos Appoints Joe Levy as CEO and Jim Dildine as CFO, Strengthening Leadership Team
Sophos has named Joe Levy as its new Chief Executive Officer. Levy, who has been serving as the interim CEO since February 15, brings nearly 30 years of experience in cybersecurity innovation and leadership to his new role. Alongside Levy’s appointment, Sophos has also introduced Jim Dildine as the new Chief Financial Officer, marking a significant enhancement of the company’s senior management team.
Levy emphasized the critical role of midmarket organizations in the global economy, noting that disruptions caused by ransomware or other cyberattacks can significantly impact supply chains and economic activity. His goal is to enhance the cybersecurity capabilities of these organizations, which often lack adequate protection.
Levy’s nine-year tenure at Sophos has seen the company evolve from a product-centric vendor into a comprehensive cybersecurity provider. Under his leadership, Sophos has introduced an incident response team and a managed detection and response (MDR) service, safeguarding over 21,000 organizations globally. Additionally, Levy spearheaded the development of SophosAI and Sophos X-Ops, an operational threat intelligence unit that integrates the expertise of over 500 cybersecurity professionals across various departments.
Levy’s extensive experience includes collaborating with managed security providers (MSPs) and channel partners, relationships he has cultivated since the mid-1990s. As CEO, he aims to broaden Sophos’ reach in the midmarket sector, which currently serves nearly 600,000 customers and generates over $1.2 billion in annual revenue.
Levy’s strategy involves leveraging partnerships with MSPs and channel partners to deliver scalable, innovative security solutions across endpoints, networks, email, and cloud security. He is committed to providing midmarket organizations with the necessary tools and support to defend against cyber threats.
To support this mission, Levy appointed Jim Dildine as CFO. Dildine brings extensive operational and financial expertise, having previously served as CFO at Imperva and at Symantec’s $2.5 billion enterprise security business unit. At Blue Coat Systems, where Levy also served as chief technology officer, Dildine played a key role in the company’s growth and acquisitions, culminating in its sale to Symantec for $4.6 billion.
Dildine expressed excitement about joining Sophos, highlighting the company’s dedication to continually innovating its cybersecurity technology and managing security services for midmarket customers. He views this as an opportune moment to contribute to Sophos’ ongoing success and growth.
