Leadership Shifts at J.P. Morgan Chase India with CEO Prabdev Singh Stepping Down
Prabdev Singh, CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank India, has stepped down from his role, leaving the bank approximately halfway through his three-year term. Singh, who received regulatory approval for his position in January 2023, has been with J.P. Morgan since 2010 and took over as CEO of the bank’s India operations in October 2022, succeeding Madhav Kalyan.
Kalyan transitioned to the role of head of payments for Asia Pacific, replacing Sridhar Kanthadai, who moved on to become co-head of Global Payment Rails and Payment VAS. J.P. Morgan lauded Kalyan’s appointment as a testament to the firm’s internal mobility and talent strength. Kalyan joined J.P. Morgan in 2009 as head of Corporate Banking for India and served as CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank India before becoming the senior country officer (SCO) for India at the start of 2021.
With Singh’s departure, Pranav Chawda, currently head of commercial banking for India, will broaden his responsibilities to include head of India Corporate Banking, according to a Bloomberg report.
In another significant change, Takis Georgakopoulos, J.P. Morgan’s global head of payments, has also left the firm. Georgakopoulos, who had led the payments division since 2017 and is credited with expanding its scope, announced his departure on June 3. He will join Fiserv as a senior advisor, executive vice president, and a member of the management committee, starting September 3.
Georgakopoulos shared his decision to leave J.P. Morgan in a LinkedIn post, expressing his excitement about a new opportunity outside the firm after 17 years. His departure coincides with J.P. Morgan Chase’s board preparing for a potential CEO transition, as Jamie Dimon has held the CEO position for 18 years and is considered a candidate for senior government roles.
