Meet Anand Jain, Mukesh Ambani’s Close Ally and Successful Businessman
Anand Jain, the Chairman of Jai Corp Limited, shares a lifelong friendship with Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited. In 2007, he ranked as the 11th richest Indian, with a staggering net worth of $4 billion. However, by 2012, his net worth had decreased to $525 million. Anand’s wealth stems from his association with Jai Corp, a company founded in 1985 with diverse interests spanning steel manufacturing, plastic processing, spinning yarn, real estate development, venture capital, and infrastructure projects. Notably, the company’s real estate arm has invested in 33 projects across 14 cities in India.
Anand Jain’s connection with Mukesh Ambani dates back to their childhood days when they attended the same school in Mumbai. Their bond strengthened over the years, with Anand Jain joining Reliance Industries upon Mukesh Ambani’s return from Stanford University in 1981. Anand played a significant role in overseeing Reliance’s daily operations, particularly within its telecom subsidiary, Reliance Infocomm.
Anand Jain’s extensive experience in real estate, finance, and capital markets has made him a valuable strategic advisor to Reliance Industries and Mukesh Ambani. He has played pivotal roles in Reliance’s major capital market transactions and serves as a director on the boards of various organizations, including Rewas Port Limited and the Mumbai Port Trust. Despite his influential position, Anand Jain refrains from drawing a salary from Reliance Industries.
Outside his professional endeavors, Anand Jain leads a private life with his wife, Sushma Jain, and their two children, Neha Jain and Harsh Jain. Interestingly, Harsh Jain co-founded Dream11, India’s leading fantasy sports platform, along with Bhavit Sheth. Dream11 achieved unicorn status in 2019 and boasts a significant user base of 200 million as of October 2023, offering a wide array of sports for enthusiasts to engage with.
Anand Jain’s journey reflects not only his business acumen but also the enduring bonds of friendship and family that have shaped his remarkable success story.
