Elon Musk Confirms Postponement of His Planned Visit to India Amidst Heavy Tesla Obligations
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the cancellation of his anticipated visit to India, originally scheduled for April 21-22, 2024. Musk attributed the postponement to his extensive workload at Tesla but expressed eagerness to reschedule the visit later in the year. Musk confirmed the trip’s delay in a social media post on platform X. Despite the setback, Musk emphasized his anticipation for the visit and highlighted his desire to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The timing of Musk’s visit appeared opportune, coinciding with India’s recent unveiling of a new electric vehicle manufacturing policy aimed at attracting investments from global players like Tesla. Originally planned for a two-day stay, Musk’s itinerary included meetings with Prime Minister Modi, other government officials, and industry representatives, with discussions expected to cover topics ranging from Tesla to Starlink.
While Musk acknowledged India’s increasing significance during a previous X Spaces session, describing it as the world’s most populous country and underscoring the need for electric vehicles in the market, the specifics of Tesla’s entry into India remain uncertain. Despite the setback, the potential for Tesla’s presence in India underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its global footprint in alignment with evolving market demands.
