Martin Cooper to Replace Carol Borg as CFO of QinetiQ Group
QinetiQ Group, a global leader in technology and defense solutions, is set to undergo a significant transition in its executive leadership with the appointment of Martin Cooper as the group’s new Chief Financial Officer. Cooper will succeed Carol Borg, who is stepping down from the role with the board’s agreement. Borg will continue to provide support during the interim period until the end of July to facilitate a smooth transition.
During the interim period preceding Cooper’s arrival, Heather Cashin, the Group Financial Controller, will serve as the interim Group CFO. To ensure seamless operations, David Smith, former Group CFO of QinetiQ, will provide guidance and support to Cashin and the board.
Cooper, an accomplished accountant with over 25 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in senior finance roles, is anticipated to join the QinetiQ Board no later than October. His extensive background includes diverse roles at BAE Systems, where he held positions such as U.K. & Rest of World Financial Controller, Divisional Finance Director, and most recently, Investor Relations Director.
In addition to the appointment of Cooper, QinetiQ has bolstered its leadership team with the addition of Iain Stevenson as Chief Operating Officer and Will Blamey as Chief Executive of U.K. Defence. Stevenson, who is currently the Deputy Chief Executive of AWE, will join QinetiQ in July, bringing with him a wealth of experience in program management and operational performance. Blamey’s promotion underscores his instrumental role in the successful development and delivery of major programs at QinetiQ.
Welcoming Cooper and Stevenson to the team, Group CEO Steve Wadey highlighted their valuable expertise and contributions to the strategic direction of the company. These appointments signify QinetiQ’s commitment to strengthening its leadership capabilities and driving long-term growth and shareholder value. Expressing gratitude for Borg’s service, Steve Wadey extended his well wishes for her future endeavors.
