Trillion Energy Brings David Thompson to Serve as Interim CFO

Trillion Energy, a prominent player in Canada’s oil and gas sector, has announced key changes in its leadership structure, including the appointment of David Thompson, a seasoned director and former CFO of the company, to the position of interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the departure of a former director. Thompson’s appointment follows the termination of Ozge Karalli, the former CFO, who was employed with Park Place Energy, Trillion’s operating subsidiary in Türkiye.

Thompson currently serves as the managing director of Bermuda-based AMS Limited and has held prestigious positions such as president and CEO of Sea Dragon Energy, financial director of Forum Energy, and senior vice president at Larmag Group of Companies.

Thompson brings over 30 years of financial expertise in the international oil and gas industry, with notable experience in the U.S., Europe, and Turkmenistan. His background as a certified public accountant (CPA) and his previous leadership roles further strengthen his suitability for the interim CFO position.

Trillion Energy’s diverse portfolio includes a 50% interest in three oil exploration blocks in Türkiye, 49% ownership of the SASB natural gas field, a 19.6% stake in the Cendere oil field, and full ownership of the Vranino 1-11 block in Bulgaria.

Additionally, Trillion Energy has undergone a change in its board composition, with the resignation of former director Kubilay Yildirim effective immediately. The company has initiated a search for a new director, with the aim of finalizing the appointment by July 2024, coinciding with the next annual general meeting.

Amidst these changes, Trillion Energy remains focused on its operational activities, particularly its endeavors in a natural gas field in the Black Sea off Türkiye. Following a successful development drilling program, the company has disclosed plans to implement artificial lift solutions to monetize gas reserves for sale.
