Eduardo Saverin’s Rise in Venture Capital and Wealth Displacement
Eduardo Saverin, renowned for co-founding Meta Platforms, has further solidified his financial standing as a co-owner of venture capital firm B Capital Group, managing a substantial $6.3 billion in assets. His net worth is around $25.9 billion. His remarkable achievements in the financial realm have propelled him to the forefront, surpassing Li Xiting, chairman of Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics, a leading supplier of medical devices.
A Brazilian native, Saverin has been a resident of Singapore since renouncing his US citizenship in 2012, a move made in anticipation of Facebook’s IPO. Saverin, alongside Harvard classmate Mark Zuckerberg, co-founded Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, in 2004. Despite transitioning into venture capitalism, Saverin continues to derive a significant portion of his wealth from his valuable stake in Meta.
In 2016, Saverin, along with Raj Ganguly, a veteran from BCG and Bain Capital, launched the venture fund B Capital, which now boasts assets under management totaling $6.5 billion. Notably, in July 2022, B Capital successfully raised $250 million earmarked for investments in early-stage startups.
Beyond his financial endeavors, Saverin has diverse interests, including a background as a competitive chess player from 1997 to 2001. At 41 years old, Eduardo Saverin’s journey from co-founding a social media giant to becoming a prominent figure in the venture capital landscape underscores his entrepreneurial prowess and strategic foresight.
