Son of Former CEO of YouTube Found Dead at UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr Campus

The sorrowful demise of Marco Troper, a 19-year-old student discovered lifeless at UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr Campus, has been attributed to a suspected drug overdose, as disclosed by a family member.

Hailing from a prominent Silicon Valley lineage, Troper was surrounded by illustrious relatives, including tech luminaries such as his mother, Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, and his aunt, Anne Wojcicki, CEO of 23andMe. Despite his prestigious background, Troper’s life was cut tragically short, leaving behind a family shattered by grief.

Esther Wojcicki, Troper’s grandmother, conveyed her belief that her grandson fell victim to a lethal substance. Eager to prevent such tragedies from befalling other families, Wojcicki emphasized the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures.

Troper was found unconscious in his dormitory room at Clark Kerr on February 13th, as detailed by campus spokesperson Janet Gilmore. Despite prompt intervention by the Berkeley Fire Department and UC Berkeley police officers, Troper was pronounced dead at the scene.

Awaiting a toxicology report that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding Troper’s passing, the family braces for a potentially agonizing wait of up to 30 days.

As UC Berkeley extends counseling support to students grappling with the loss of Troper, the university refrains from confirming the cause of death, citing an ongoing investigation. Nevertheless, the family remains resolute in their determination to transform their sorrow into advocacy, striving to prevent similar tragedies from befalling other young lives.

Described affectionately by Wojcicki as a “math genius” with a penchant for athleticism and a vibrant personality, Troper was poised for a promising future, aspiring to major in mathematics at UC Berkeley.

The Menlo School community, where Troper graduated last spring, fondly remembers him as a brilliant and compassionate individual, lauding his leadership and academic prowess.
