Slingshot Aerospace Found its Permanent CEO after Melanie Stricklan’s Departure
Slingshot Aerospace has appointed Tim Solms as its new Chief Executive Officer, as announced on February 7th. The departure of former CEO and co-founder Melanie Stricklan from Slingshot in August 2023 was attributed to personal reasons, according to a company spokesperson. During the interim period, Slingshot’s co-founder David Godwin assumed the role of interim CEO until Solms’ appointment.
Established in 2017, Slingshot is headquartered in El Segundo, California, and Austin, Texas.
Prior to joining Slingshot, Solms held positions at notable companies, including Microsoft, Dell, VMware, and most recently at Dun & Bradstreet, a renowned provider of business intelligence and analytics. At Microsoft and VMware Federal, Solms oversaw the defense and military business divisions.
In recent years, Slingshot has expanded its footprint through strategic acquisitions and secured numerous contracts with the U.S. Space Force. Notably, the company was chosen by the Department of Commerce’s Office of Space Commerce for a significant project aimed at establishing a civilian space traffic coordination and management system, leveraging its expertise in providing data on objects in low Earth orbit.
