Baykar Builds New Facility in Ukraine
Baykar, Türkiye’s renowned defense company, has embarked on the construction of a state-of-the-art drone manufacturing facility near the city of Kyiv, a significant endeavor set to create employment opportunities for approximately 500 individuals. The announcement was made by Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar during the prestigious World Defense Show in Riyadh.
Bayraktar outlined the ambitious timeline for the factory’s completion, indicating that construction is currently underway with an estimated timeframe of 12 months before finalization. Subsequently, the focus will shift towards installing internal machinery and equipment and establishing the organizational structure necessary for seamless operations.
Highlighting the production capacity of the factory, Bayraktar disclosed that it is expected to manufacture approximately 120 units annually. However, the specific drone model to be prioritized for production, whether the TB2 or TB3, remains under consideration.
This development builds upon previous announcements, notably in July 2023 when Ukrainian Strategic Industries Minister Oleksandr Kamyshin revealed Türkiye’s Baykar had initiated the construction of a drone manufacturing facility in Ukraine.
Addressing concerns regarding security implications amidst the ongoing conflict, Bayraktar reassured that plans for the factory are progressing without impediment. He emphasized the unwavering commitment to advancing the project, asserting that no external factors would derail its momentum.
