According to a recent report, J. Patrick Doyle, the executive chairman of Restaurant Brands International, which owns Tim Hortons, Burger King, and Popeyes, among other fast-food chains, tops the list of highest-paid CEOs in Canada, with a total compensation of over $151 million. Matthew Proud, the CEO of software company Dye & Durham Limited, came in second, earning nearly $100 million.
Magna International CEO Seetarama S. Kotagiri is number three on the list with a total compensation of over $36.4 million in 2022, while Rogers Communications CEO Tony Staffieri is number four at over $31.5 million.
Canada’s top 100 CEOs were paid a whopping $14.9 million on average. The average CEO collects $7,162 an hour. It takes just over eight hours in the new year for the top 100 CEOs to clock in an average of $60,600—what the average worker in Canada makes in an entire year.
