Kotak Mahindra Bank Brings Ashok Vaswani to Assume the Role of MD and CEO
Ashok Vaswani has been warmly welcomed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank, assuming office on January 1 for a tenure of three years. Vaswani succeeds Dipak Gupta, who served as the interim MD and CEO following the departure of founder director Uday Kotak on September 1, 2023.
With over thirty-five years of extensive experience, Vaswani arrives at Kotak Mahindra Bank from his prior role as the Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Bank, UK. He later served as the CEO for their Global Consumer, Private, Corporate, and Payments businesses, additionally holding a position as a Member of the Group Executive Committee. Earlier in his career, Vaswani served as CEO of Citigroup Asia Pacific and was a part of the Citigroup Global Operating & Management Committees. His career encompasses building and overseeing various country and regional businesses across multiple geographies. Presently, he serves as President of Pagaya Technologies Ltd, a US-Israeli AI Fintech company.
Vaswani holds positions on the Board of the London Stock Exchange Group and the SP Jain Institute of Global Management, UK. He actively supports several philanthropic organizations, including Pratham and Lend-A-Hand. Vaswani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, and Accountancy from the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics (Bombay University), is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, holds Company Secretary credentials from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and has completed Executive Education at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
